THE magic of electricity

We already know skateboards and scooters, they’re fun. But the electric versions of these are even more fun, the power of these small motors will surprise you. It is with JP that we choose our mount and, equipped with the appropriate protective gear, start the discovery of this new sport. Obviously, if you are familiar with dynamic balance sports, such as skating, or surfing for example, the learning process will be quicker.

The motors that these small machines are equipped with will surprise you by their flexibility, but also their speed. All the power is immediately available by turning a lever or by pushing a button. Also, the qualities of a patient instructor, full of empathy are really appreciated! Personally, I have some experience of these sports (skating, snowboarding...) and machines like the mountain bikes, the scooter and the Segway are my favourite. But thanks to the advice and patience of JP, I spent an excellent time on a electric skateboard, launched at a crazy speed... I’ll say no more in order to keep a bit of dignity! ;)

Would you rather skateboard, scooter or segway ?

The electric skateboard is an all-terrain version, rather bulky (but then you are not supposed to carry it on your back…) and it is very good fun. The suspension is soft; you can tackle the small obstacles with ease. There is a controller, linked to the skateboard and held in your hand, which controls the speed (forward/backward), you control the direction by tilting your feet and your lower body from front to back.

The electric scooter is my true favourite. I think I never had so much fun! It is a very ergonomic machine that you can master quickly. The models of Skate Tour 17 have 3 wheels: 2 at the front and one at the back, to maximise the stability. It is in the curves that it is the most fun, as you are not turning flat, but really leaned on it like on a bike! At the beginning, we hesitated but we quickly understood the centre of gravity of the scooter. If you head to the paths, it is awesome, as the powerful motors allow serious acrobatics (safe at all time and supervised by the instructor, obviously...). Those who love the sport with thrills will love the electric scooter...

In terms of urban mobility, it cannot be more refined, designed and surprising than the Segway. Only a few years ago it used to be limited to a mobile promotional machine, now the Segways are also available for individuals and can be rented for a reasonable price. Slightly disorientating for the first 3 metres, you can then move easily on the pavement, without being afraid to knock somebody off the pavement, I promise. Raised on your board, you can enjoy the landscape like a fakir on a flying carpet. You turn on the spot, you wave to the fascinated people (yes yes, it is true) and when it is time to go back and give back the equipment, you go straight on the internet to know the price of one and treat yourself ;)

rental with Cyclo Jet

SkateTour 17 has partnered with the shop Cyclo Jet in Saint-Georges-de-Didonne and Royan, where you can rent bikes, mountain bikes (VTT), city bikes (VTC), electrical bikes and some beautiful and fun Rosalies. Have you heard of it? It is a pedal kart, with several seats to transport from 2 to 9 passengers. With your family, it is an ideal way to roll and relax. Everybody pedals, it is a team effort and it is great fun! At Cyclo Jet there are also beautiful bikes for sale and a bike workshop for repairs, in case you brought your own and it needs some adjustments.
