The Lilleau des Niges Reserve stretches from Ars-en-Ré to Portes-en-Ré. This large reserve is a refuge and a space of protection for the birds which nest there. It is therefore not open to visitors. You can still go around it on foot and especially by bike. The Ile de Ré is very popular with cyclists because it offers many well-maintained cycle paths. From the Phare des Baleines , you will have a breathtaking view of the reserve. The birds are not limited to the reserve and you will also come across many birds in the Whale Park.
