    • Saint-Martin-de-Ré is a true pearl of Charente-Maritime, famous for its authentic charm and its rich historical heritage.

      A fortified jewel

Located on the island of Ré, Saint-Martin-de-Ré is best known for its Vauban fortifications, listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. These star-shaped ramparts that surround the town offer an exotic walk and a breathtaking view of the port and salt marshes.

      The port of Saint-Martin-de-Ré: a must-see

If there is one thing not to be missed when traveling around the Île de Ré, it is the port of Saint-Martin. This lively place, day and night, is where fishing boats rub shoulders with sailboats and pleasure boats. All around, shops and restaurants delight visitors who like to sit in the sun and watch local life unfold before their eyes.

      A picturesque village

Inside the ramparts, this village of character is recognizable among all thanks to:

      • Its cobbled streets
      • Its white houses with blue shutters
      • Its hollyhocks, symbol of the Isle of Ré

A cultural heritage not to be missed

Saint-Martin-de-Ré is also home to the Ernest Cognacq Museum, which displays a collection of archaeological objects and works of art. Nearby, the church bell tower offers a panoramic view of the town and the island.

Little bonus: near the ramparts, the beach of La Cible and the city center, keep your eyes peeled. The mascot of the Île de Ré might show up: the donkey in pants!

Thank you for your very warm welcome! The team is very friendly, they give very good advice, the exchange was very interesting. The young man was able to advise me, particularly regarding my wheelchair, which is a real plus. Thank you for your kindness! The little extra, the creation of an accessibility guide. The aim of this work is to present the places, visits, walks, accommodation... compatible with people with disabilities. Very well done, congratulations to you! Looking forward to creating your souvenir 4-color pencil! 😉
