La Maison des Ambassadeurs, the first five-star hotel in La Rochelle, pays tribute to the French ambassador Albert Bodard, the "son of La Rochelle", through its assertive style, elegant decoration, a bar and refined cuisine.

Our story

At the height of the ^19th century, ambassadors of the French Empire exported their lifestyle to the four corners of the world, like Albert Bodard, explorer and ambassador of France. He multiplied missions to his homes in Mexico, Iran, Ethiopia, Afghanistan, Indonesia and China. Despite a life rich in adventures, political intrigues, travels and epicureanism, Albert Bodard always considered La Rochelle as "his home".

Bodard Bar

The bar of the Maison des Ambassadeurs recreates the festive atmosphere where Albert Bodard received around the large period fireplace. The modern decoration with 1950s accents is punctuated with objects gleaned from around the world that tell the story of Ambassador Bodard and his adventures, from the New World to the Far East.

Guests and locals mingle in a festive and welcoming atmosphere, for afternoon tea or evening drinks. A fine selection of wines and local produce celebrates La Rochelle's heritage, all accompanied by must-try international dishes. Seasonal cocktails inspired by travels around the world make the bar a place where all ages meet.
