    • BIÈRES DE RÉ celebrates its 29th anniversary

29 years…and yes! Bières de Ré has been brewing quality craft beers on the Île de Ré for over a quarter of a century. An eternity in the world of craft breweries that have multiplied in recent years.

The Bières de Ré brewery was founded in 1996 on the initiative of Mr. Baumgartner, an Austrian brewer who came to the island to retire. Passionate about his former profession and in love with "his" little corner of paradise, he brewed the first white beer brewed on the island of Ré.

In 2011, the brewery was taken over by the Bertrand family, winegrowers and distillers established in Charente-Maritime since 1848.

Their promise? Modernize the production tool and enrich the range while maintaining the artisanal and authentic spirit of Bières de Ré.

Bet won. If the modernization of the brewing and fermentation tool is important, on the other hand, the recipes that made the brewery successful, such as the " Blanche de Ré ", persist.

Sensitive to ecological issues, the Bières de Ré brewery reduces its environmental impact by reducing its energy consumption thanks to a unique energy recovery exchanger system.

A great example of commitment to sustainable development !

A pioneer in the brewing of organic beers on the island, the range also includes bold creations such as Ré honey beer, Triple and its three types of hops, Déferlante and its very strong flavor, Indian Pale Ale, Cognac-flavored beers and citrus beer. Quality craft beers that have won several medals at prestigious competitions that enthusiasts will appreciate!

Bières de Ré also offers a range of artisanal spirits under the brand “LE PERTUIS” which are produced by Mathieu Bertrand, master distiller and blender.

      • Two whiskies matured on the island with a finish in Pineau des Charentes casks for the Single Cask and a finish in Bourbon, Cognac and Pineau des Charentes casks for the Pure Malt.
      • A pure and elegant artisanal vodka.
      • A gin with delicate aromas of juniper, enhanced by a lemony note.
      • A traditional pastis and a blue pastis with original notes of pepper and wild mint.

The Brasserie also produces OREA Bio sodas, containing lower sugar content and natural flavors that include lemonade, cola and tonic. Ideal for cocktails.

In recent years, the brewery has continued to innovate with the strong local roots at the heart of its DNA as a common thread. The brewery favors short circuits by selecting regional malts and French hops.

Our advice? Visit the shop/brewery located in Sainte-Marie-de-Ré and admire the work of the brewers in action. A pleasant way to discover the know-how of these passionate artisans.

Small shops but a lot of choice! For beers you will find them cheaper here than elsewhere.

Participated in a guided tour. Very friendly guide who has an educational gift and a warm smile. Wide range of very quality local beers. Fingers crossed that the sublime cognac beer can be kept in the range.🤞🏻

Très bonne accueil à la boutique avec vue sur la brasserie. Je recommande la Blanche BIO et la Triple Houblons. J'ai adoré également leur Gin et leur tonic Bio. Bonne dégustation à vous maintenant.
