    • THE SOAP FACTORY OF THE ÎLE DE RÉ: ARTISANAL EXPERTISE IN THE HEART OF THE ISLAND

      A family soap factory since 2004

      Since 2004, Savonnerie de l'Île de Ré has been perpetuating the art of making soaps with organic donkey milk, a precious ingredient recognized for its nourishing and soothing properties since Antiquity. Passed down from father to son, this family business makes a point of preserving artisanal know-how while innovating to offer natural and environmentally friendly products.

      Organic donkey milk, a key ingredient in handmade soaps and cosmetics, is combined with other natural ingredients carefully selected for their benefits for the skin. This approach guarantees gentle and effective care, suitable for children and adults alike.

      A varied range of artisanal products

      La Savonnerie de l'Île de Ré produces a wide range of soaps and cosmetics made from organic donkey milk, combining tradition and innovation. Among the products on offer are:

      • Solid and liquid soaps, delicately scented with essential oils;
      • Moisturizing creams and nourishing balms, for daily skin care;
      • Customizable gift boxes, perfect for offering a wellness break to loved ones.

      Customers also have the opportunity to visit the manufacturing workshop to discover the different stages of production of artisanal soaps. An enriching experience that highlights all the meticulous work and attention paid to every detail.

      A company committed to natural beauty

      La Savonnerie de l'Île de Ré is committed to a responsible approach, using organic raw materials and favoring environmentally friendly packaging. Each product reflects the commitment of this family business to natural and authentic cosmetics.

      Always attentive to the expectations of its customers, the soap factory innovates each season by offering new artisanal creations which enrich the existing range.

      Soap shops on the Île de Ré

      To discover all of its products, Savonnerie de l'Île de Ré welcomes you to its four boutiques located in the most beautiful villages on the island:

      • Saint-Martin-de-Ré, with its lively port and historic ramparts;
      • Le Bois-Plage-en-Ré, in the heart of the island;
      • La Couarde-sur-Mer, a charming village with flowery streets;
      • The Phare des Baleines, near the famous lighthouse which offers a panoramic view of the ocean.

      These shops are the perfect places to bring back a handmade souvenir from the island or treat yourself to skincare products made in France.

      What to discover around the soap factory: the treasures of the Île de Ré?

      After a visit to the soap factory's workshop or shops, take the time to explore the natural and cultural riches of Île de Ré. A true paradise for outdoor enthusiasts, the island offers numerous activities to reconnect with nature.

      The island's salt marshes are a must-see, where you can meet the salt workers and learn more about salt harvesting. The fine sandy beaches, such as those at Bois-Plage and La Couarde-sur-Mer, invite you to relax or take a stroll along the water's edge.

      For a spectacular view, head to the Phare des Baleines, which stands proudly on the western tip of the island. A climb of 257 steps provides access to an exceptional panorama of the Atlantic.

      History buffs can stroll through the narrow streets of Saint-Martin-de-Ré, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, or visit the Châteliers Abbey, a medieval ruin nestled in a bucolic setting. Cyclists will appreciate the cycle paths that cross the island and allow them to discover its typical villages, vineyards and pine forests.

      The Savonnerie de l'Île de Ré blends perfectly into this unspoiled setting, offering natural products that extend the experience of a stay dedicated to well-being and gentleness. A must-visit for anyone seeking artisanal and authentic treatments.

    Warm welcome, the products are very good. Donkey milk make-up remover, shampoo and shower gel, I took everything and now my skin is much less dry.

    Shop that immediately caught my eye with its frontage and its delicious smell. In 2 days, I went there 3 times, and each time I made purchases. Family shop, with artisanal manufacturing. I was very well advised by the lady who was present. I highly recommend it, I would come back, but in the meantime it will be orders via the internet.

    The shop is nice as well as their soaps. On the other hand, their scent diffusers sold at the entrance smell nothing at home despite the fact that we often add drops of product purchased in this store. Or it's the large number that makes us feel something at the entrance where there are diffusers. 30€ for nothing.
