    • LA MAISON LABLANCHE: TRADITION AND EXPERTISE IN THE PRODUCTION OF COGNAC AND PINEAU DES CHARENTES

Maison Lablanche, located in the commune of Chadenac, in Charente-Maritime, is a family business that has been perpetuating the art of producing cognac, Pineau des Charentes and regional wines for several generations. This wine estate has built a solid reputation thanks to ancestral know-how passed down from generation to generation, combining tradition and innovation in each of its creations.

      An exceptional terroir in Charente-Maritime

The Lablanche estate extends over fertile and sunny lands typical of Charente-Maritime, an ideal terroir for growing vines. The favorable climatic conditions and the richness of the soil contribute to the exceptional quality of the wine products. Located near the Gironde estuary, the estate benefits from a natural environment conducive to the production of wines and spirits of character.

The vines of Maison Lablanche are carefully cultivated using environmentally friendly methods. The harvest is carried out by hand, guaranteeing a rigorous selection of the bunches to preserve their quality and unique flavor. This winemaking know-how is reflected in each bottle produced at the estate, from Charente country wines to refined liqueurs and cognacs aged in oak barrels.

Cognac: the art of distillation mastered

Cognac, Maison Lablanche's flagship product, is produced with meticulous attention, from the cultivation of the vines to distillation. Double distillation, carried out in traditional copper stills, produces a cognac that is both rich and subtle. This process, respected for centuries, concentrates the aromas and creates an eau-de-vie of great finesse.

Each batch of cognac is then aged in French oak barrels, which gives the spirit woody and vanilla notes, as well as a silky texture on the palate. Maison Lablanche offers several ranges of cognacs, from young VS (Very Special) to older vintages, all marked by the elegance and complexity of the aromas.

Pineau des Charentes: an exceptional aperitif

Pineau des Charentes, an emblematic product of the region, is also a flagship of Maison Lablanche's production. This liqueur wine, born from the blend of fresh grape must and cognac brandy, is known for its sweetness and aromatic complexity. Whether white or rosé, Pineau des Charentes is distinguished by fruity and floral aromas, perfect for accompanying convivial moments.

The manufacturing process of Pineau des Charentes follows strict standards to ensure consistent quality. Aged in oak barrels, it develops subtle aromas of candied fruit, honey and spices over time, offering a unique taste experience.

Charente liqueurs and local wines with character

In addition to cognac and Pineau des Charentes, Maison Lablanche also produces cognac liqueurs and Charente country wines. The liqueurs, made from traditional recipes, combine the richness of cognac with natural flavors to create gourmet drinks, ideal for tasting moments or to enhance cocktails.

Charentais country wines, for their part, reflect the Charentais terroir. They are produced from carefully selected local grape varieties and offer a wide range of flavors, from fruity whites to full-bodied reds. These wines are perfect to accompany meals with friends or family, revealing all the character and diversity of the Charentais vineyard.

A family business looking to the future

Maison Lablanche, while remaining deeply attached to its roots and winemaking tradition, is also committed to an approach of innovation and respect for the environment. Production is carried out in accordance with sustainable practices, promoting biodiversity and soil preservation.

The family business strives to maintain high quality standards while exploring new winemaking and distillation techniques. This approach allows Maison Lablanche to offer ever more refined products, meeting the expectations of wine and spirits lovers around the world.

We visited a few years ago now - but just found the last bottle of their VSOP Cognac hidden away in the drinks cabinet - - so chuffed! I'll be havin some of this tonight. Brought back super memories of a small, family run and very friendly place - had a tour and very interesting. And super small (shaded) car park opposite. We bought then, some red, white wines, Pineau (gorgeous !!) and the Cognac. Everything else drunk now but this last bottle - - - time to book another trip over, stay in Pons and visit this place again !!
