The Thermal School of Stress, bodily AND psychological care
The Thermal School of Stress is a unique concept combining a psychoeducational approach with a thermal cure. This integrative treatment offers, in parallel with balneotherapy treatments, psycho-educational workshops of 5 days or 3 weeks.
The main objectives are to lower the state of tension, better understand the mechanisms experienced, identify them and know how to defuse them... A follow-up study, carried out on more than 500 patients over the past 5 years, has shown a significant improvement at the end of the cure (compared to the start of the cure), on the reduction of stress, the reduction, or even the cessation of tranquillizers, on the quality of life of the spa guests. Consolidated and/or improved results 3 months after the treatment.
Although the ETS was created in 2012 to organize workshops on stopping or reducing tranquillizers, treatment has been extended for several years to new pathologies.

Endometriosis is a complex disease generating chronic pain. A specific flat rate is set up for 16-25 year olds subject to specific coverage guaranteed by Health Insurance. The indications selected for this program are: anxiety or depressive-reactive disorders, sleep disorders, eating disorders, addictive disorders and the avoidance of psychotropic drugs. Psychotherapeutic support can be provided in addition to the thermal program.
POST-BREAST CANCER CURE: 3 weeks + 1 week of workshop at the Thermal School of Stress)
The psychological management of cancer is a real hurricane that often upsets everything in its path. This cure is a bodily and psychological care aimed at lowering inner tension and helping women to reconsider and project themselves more serenely towards new perspectives. Various workshops are offered.

Saujon is a national reference center for the management of burnout (in prevention or support). It offers support via a spa treatment associated with TCC workshops via the Thermal School of Stress. The center's experts can also intervene outside the walls of the station directly in companies. Identify suffering, prevent burnout, take charge of situations of exhaustion, support the management of conflicts and traumatic events in the workplace, train managers and business leaders but also health service professionals at work, offering rapid support adapted to individual situations, are the main objectives.

Women are more affected than men because they often accumulate different mental loads that can lead them to physical and psychological exhaustion. Their involvement in work, in the education of children, the accompaniment of a relative with a disability or a chronic illness, the domestic organization of the house… make them more fragile.
COVID PSY cure for associated mental disorders: 3 weeks + 3 weeks of workshop at the Thermal School of Stress)
Bodily and psychological care, in order to reduce post-traumatic symptoms linked to the health crisis and lower the state of internal tension. This pandemic has caused sleep disorders, eating disorders, anxiety disorders, phobias of all kinds, social isolation, depressive states, and an increase in suicidal ideation, but also an almost permanent fear of the future fraught with uncertainty. This cure makes it possible to better identify "wounds" and the mechanisms that cause suffering or exhaustion, with thermal treatments to reduce the post-traumatic symptoms induced, and workshops and individual and collective interviews, in addition to relaunch the thought process. .
SPECT'H study - WITHDRAWAL
For a new study launched in 2023 at the thermal baths of Saujon, relating to the withdrawal of psychotropic substances, 150 patients are sought.
In 2015, a study entitled SPECTh (Withdrawal from psychotropic drugs by psychotherapeutic education in spa treatment) demonstrated the interest of a spa treatment associated with a psychoeducational protocol to reduce the consumption of benzodiazepines. The overconsumption of psychotropic drugs is indeed a major public health problem in France. In France, the consumption of these substances is twice as high as in all other European countries. The numbers speak for themselves:
12% of French people are regular users and 24.5% have consumed at least one psychotropic in the last 12 months.
In 2023, a new study, SPECTh II, will be launched. At the instigation of the CNAM, its objective is to evaluate the specific contribution of the SPECTh program, developed from behavioral and cognitive therapy, and motivational therapy, in the outcome of weaning.
Two groups of patients will be followed at Saujon thermal baths. One will benefit from a simple spa treatment with balneotherapy treatments, the other group will follow, in addition to the treatments, the psychoeducational protocol called SPECTh, created in Saujon by Dr Olivier Dubois and validated by the CNETh.
150 patients sought
150 patients must therefore be recruited, chronic consumers of benzodiazepines for more than six months, motivated to stop their treatment, having suffered several previous failures. Patient recruitment is currently open. This integrative treatment offers internships in the form of psychoeducational workshops over three weeks in addition to balneotherapy treatments. It should be noted that at Saujon, a reference station in the field of mental health, other programs deal with the management of stress, sleep disorders, burn-out, etc.
