      Founded in the 17th century by Cardinal Richelieu, Brouage was a strategic war port, designed to compete with La Rochelle. Its fortifications, designed by Vauban, make it a remarkable example of military architecture.

    Very pleasant and welcoming village, but lacking a handrail on the North exit of the ramparts would be valuable. As seniors we are. Thanks.
