  (With updates) Born in LR, I strongly recommend this establishment, without any reservation, as one of the very best in La Rochelle. Personally, it has always been one of my favorites. If you come to LR for even a single day, don’t go and eat in the “tourist traps” on the historic port; You should go to the Mail to eat! Not only is it always very good and very beautiful on the plate, but the neighborhood is one of the best in LR with a magnificent environment and a superb view. A detail revealing the good spirit and sense of service of this house: the boss did not hesitate to give 2 bottles of water to my daughter following a car radiator problem, even though he does not know her, nor me (editor's note: it gets lost; not everyone does it...). Clarification: I think I can say that I know LA ROCHELLE quite well because I am a descendant of several simple Rochelais (I am from Laleu - La Pallice, I also lived in La Rossignolette, very close to Mireuil, as well as in Vendôme-Lagord) . I currently live in Rompsay. I was at school in Vaugouin, at CES Missy and at Lycée Dautey. I know the districts of Port-Neuf, Chef de Baie, Tasdon and Villeneuve-les-Salines (+ Petit Marseille) quite well and I had friends in practically all the districts of La ROCHELLE and several communes in the metropolitan area. All this to say that I can compare going in particular from l'Houmeau to Châtelaillon, via Lagord, Nieul sur Mer, Puilboreau, Saint Xandre, Charron, Sainte Soulle, Nuaillé, Forges, St Jean de Liversay, Choupeau, Périgny, Salles sur Mer, Saint Vivien, Thairé, Mortagne, Angoulins and Aytré. Update 2024/08: I maintain my initial opinion without any reservation and I even award an exceptional 19/20 for the quality felt in all areas (the content on your plate, the high quality of the staff, and the cleanliness of the establishment, etc.). New updates August, then October 2024: I once again confirm my positive opinion regarding this establishment. It borders on perfection: the cuisine and service send you straight to Paradise. I maintain the score of 19/20: thank you for this little taste magic trick to the entire TEAM (kitchen which ensures perfectly coordinated room staff), and especially to Faustine, touched by Grace, whose gift for service is unequaled currently on all establishments in the sector (NB: and I have done a few...). A big tip of the hat to Mr. BRANDT for his even-tempered and naturally pleasant welcome, and to his competent team, always impeccable, which he knew how to put together perfectly, several of whom I would poach if I had to launch my own establishment (Editor's note: but everyone has their own job, especially the Boss who has perfect mastery of it). The quality is clearly present on the plate (I leave nothing behind). An excellent establishment, with a fantastic Q/P ratio, among the best in the area with La Yole de Monsieur Avrillaud, l'Astrolabe & Saveur in L'R in the city center. I just forgot to ask if the bread, also very good, came from Mr. QUIGNON or another good artisan. Please note: I would like to point out that I am confirmed in my opinion, verified and re-verified, by several trusted people who have all confirmed 100% the quality of this establishment.
