    • Located in a prime position on the floating dock of the Old Port in the Gabut district, the Café du Nord is a La Rochelle institution. The restaurant is in fact one of the oldest places of conviviality in the city and remains today the only stone building in the famous "wooden city". A specificity that gives it a little more authenticity, a nod to the richness of its history.

With its terrace on the water and its view of the towers of La Rochelle, the Café du Nord is far from resting on its laurels. Since May 2021, the restaurant has been given a second lease of life thanks to a new ambitious team determined to offer local and seasonal cuisine in this idyllic setting.

On the menu, the choice is varied but limited, in order to maintain impeccable quality and avoid waste. The chef delights us with his original recipes: casserons à la plancha, grilled pig pluma with pineau… and the wines are carefully chosen to accompany your culinary discoveries.

Oysters, mussels, razor clams, gravlax salmon and sea bass fillet will delight seafood lovers. Tender and melting meats will delight customers who love farm produce. Let's not forget the vegetables, perfectly cooked, which bring color and flavor to the plates.

The dishes offered change with the seasons while keeping local products in the spotlight: open-sea oysters and seaweed from the foreshore of the Île de Ré, samphire and maceron from the salt marsh, bouchot mussels from the bay of L'Aiguillon, wines, pineaux and cognacs from the Charente region...

Beyond its tasty dishes, the Café du Nord also offers regular cultural events.

To follow the restaurant's news, the best thing is to follow its accounts on social networks —> @lecafedunordlarochelle and of course, go and eat there!

Great food, great prices. So nice, I went there for breakfast, lunch and dinner. TBH I would have been prepared to pay 20% more. It was that good.

We wanted somewhere close to our hotel and this was a last minute choice which certainly did not disappoint. The only potentially negative thing we would point out was that it got rather noisy...
