    • BIÈRES DE RÉ celebrates its 25th anniversary

25 years... and yes! Bières de Ré has been brewing quality craft beers for a quarter of a century on the Île de Ré. An eternity in the world of craft breweries which have multiplied in recent years.

The Bières de Ré brewery was created in 1996 at the initiative of Mr. Baumgartner, an Austrian brewer who came to the island to retire there. Passionate about his old profession and in love with “his” little corner of paradise, he brews the first white beer brewed on the Île de Ré.

In 2011, the brewery was taken over by the Bertrand family, wine growers and distillers established in Charente-Maritime since 1848.

Their promise? Modernize the production tool and enrich the range while keeping the artisanal and authentic spirit of Bières de Ré.

Bet won. While the modernization of the brewing and fermentation tool is important, the recipes that have made the brewery so successful, such as the "Blanche de Ré", continue.

Sensitive to ecological issues, the Bières de Ré brewery reduces its environmental impact by reducing its energy consumption in particular thanks to an exchanger system with unique energy recovery.

A fine example of commitment to sustainable development!

A pioneer in the brewing of organic beers on the island, the range also includes daring creations such as Ré honey beer, the Triple and its three types of hops, the Déferlante and its very marked flavor, the Indian Pale Ale, Cognac-flavored beers or citrus beer. Quality craft beers that have won several medals in prestigious competitions that amateurs will appreciate!

Bières de Ré also offers a range of artisanal spirits under the brand "LE PERTUIS" which are produced by Mathieu Bertrand, master distiller and assembler. Two whiskeys aged on the island with a finish in Pineau des Charentes barrels for the Single Cask and a finish in Bourbon, Cognac and Pineau des Charentes barrels for the Pure Malt. A pure and elegant artisanal Vodka. A Gin with delicate aromas of juniper, enhanced by a lemony note. A traditional Pastis and a Blue Pastis with original notes of pepper and wild mint.

The Brewery also produces Organic OREA sodas, containing a lower sweetness and with natural flavors that include lemonade, cola and tonic. Ideal for cocktails.

In recent years, the brewery has never ceased to innovate with as a common thread the strong local anchoring inscribed at the heart of its DNA. The brewery favors short circuits by selecting regional malts and French hops.

Our advice? Visit the boutique / brewery located in Sainte-Marie-de-Ré and admire the work of the brewers in action. A pleasant way to discover the know-how of these passionate craftsmen.

Participated in a guided tour. Very friendly guide who has an educational gift and a warm smile. Wide range of very quality local beers. Fingers crossed that the sublime cognac beer can be kept in the range.🤞🏻

Possibility to visit the distillery (by appointment) It's not very big but it's very interesting, the person explains very well, and it's nice to see how our favorite beer is made! Possibility at the end of the visit to taste the local beers you want! They are excellent, still varied and worth the detour! I recommend, the visit is free and the local products are really affordable! (There is also rum arrangé and other types of alcohol which look quite excellent too!)

Très bonne accueil à la boutique avec vue sur la brasserie. Je recommande la Blanche BIO et la Triple Houblons. J'ai adoré également leur Gin et leur tonic Bio. Bonne dégustation à vous maintenant.
